A NEW CHURCH IN THE "CITY OF GOOD NEIGHBORS"

Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center and ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion, presided at the dedication of the new Church of Scientology of Buffalo on November 16, 2003. Addressing the assembled Scientologists and guests from across the nation, he noted that “what we truly celebrate is not this monument, but how in turn this monument serves as a center—a home—to bring the help this world so desperately needs.

"It is but a backdrop to today’s opening where the real work begins.”

Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello proclaimed “Church of Scientology of Buffalo Day” in acknowledgment of the work of the Church and its parishioners in the community.  Other dignitaries participating in the dedication were Mr. Mark Zamorski, founder of the Allentown Business Association;  Mr. Brian Davis, Buffalo City Councilmember; and Mr. John Danner, senior advisor to the Points of Light Foundation. Special guests included rock bassist and Buffalo native Billy Sheehan and TV and film actress Jenna Elfman.

Before pulling the ribbon that officially opened the doors to the new Church, Mr. Miscavige expressed the significance of the day: “What you have created here is a Church of Scientology that now sets the standard for every other one to follow. With that comes a responsibility: to work together and serve as an inspiration to others. For if evil, pain, bewilderment and injustice are fundamental facts of today’s existence, let us all demonstrate with a stronger conviction that something can be done about it.

“Because we believe in Man, we know there is hope, and because we can help, working together we will make a difference.”
